Who we are
TouchTargets provides an AI marketing team for small and medium businesses. TouchTargetsBot is our website checker. It visits a website to audit its technical health: broken links, redirects, page titles, indexing settings, page speed and similar things.
Who we crawl
Only websites whose owners have asked us to and have proved they own the site. A customer must add a DNS record or a file to their own domain before we crawl it. We do not crawl the web at large, we do not build a search index, and we do not train AI models on what we read.
What it looks like in your logs
TouchTargetsBot/1.0 (+https://touchtargets.com/bot)
Requests come from our servers over HTTP or HTTPS. We check /robots.txt first and again during a crawl.
What we do and don’t do
- We fetch pages, follow the links on them, and read your sitemaps.
- We obey
robots.txt, includingCrawl-delay. - We go slowly by default (about one request per second at most, and slower if your site responds slowly or returns errors) and we stop if you ask.
- We never sign in, submit forms, or change anything on your site.
- Occasionally, when the site owner has asked for it, we check what your site serves to search and AI bots by making a request with one of their user agents. Those requests carry an
X-TouchTargets-Diagnosticheader so you can tell them apart.
How to slow us down or block us
Add this to your robots.txt:
User-agent: TouchTargetsBot
Crawl-delay: 10
To block us completely:
User-agent: TouchTargetsBot
Disallow: /
We honour changes at the start of the next request. If you are not a TouchTargets customer and you see us on your site, tell us right away (below); it should not happen.
